MEDIA MISSES THE MARK
In asssessing the first hundred days the media failed to mention what I consider the most important accomplishment. And the polling numbers confirm it. That is, the public is convinced that it made the right choice in electing Barack Obama President of the USA. The importance of this cannot be denied, it obviously elevates the mood of the majority of citizens demonstrating they have recovered their confidence in our country that was eroded so terribly by the Bush/Cheney regime. This makes it far more possible that the multiple efforts on the various crisis situations will become endorsed and put in practice.
Right now I am listening to a rehash of the press conference on the Charlie Rose show which is taped the previous evening then broadcast this hour here in our area. To me the Obama appeal is much too genuine to be labeled "charismatic" which always has seemed to carry the factor of an intentional attempt to be a celebrity instead of being one's true self.
The scars inflicted the last eight years will never go away but there seems much healing is going to unfold as more hundred days markers pass.
I feel the whole mood of the planet has changed. Leadership that calls forth the best in our common humanity, instead of using fear to assure compliance with practices that were so against the grain of our commonality has been a missing resource. We seem to have struck the mother lode with both the Obamas and their families.
Bring on the future worth living......
