Irrigation System Replacement

Finally, I wearied of trying to prolong the death of the twenty-year old irrigation system in the desert yard of my residence. For the past several years it has been a stream of one handyperson after another, and some did not do a very professional job and then the system just became so ridden with leaks that if one or two were repaired, soon there were again just as many to be fixed. The final straw was having the controls also succumbing to aging.

Now that I have had it completely replaced with better materials and all new controls, I can again go on vacation or travel without concern as to whether there might be an irrigation catastrophe while away.

The original was done with only poly piping, this time I used Sched 40 PVC and bubbler heads instead of drip emitters. More rabbit proof. Rabbits frequently gnawed holes in the above ground tubing to the previous emitters. You can't blame the creatures, they are instinctually seeking water, I think they can even smell it through the tubing, certainly there was evidence in the past that they would scratch away at the rock landscape surface to find those sources even when disguised under the rocks.

Ah, ...... the price of peace of mind.
