So ...:You Thought IT couldn't get messier(uh, more messy?)

How about that voting on the Bail-Out ( oh excuse me, Rescue) bill today?

Who would have "thunk" it?

W's blank bullets aren't accomplishing the hi-jacking of the legislative chambers of our government. For far too long, he has held the gun to heads of Congress, demanding that his bills concocted by corporatists must be passed post haste -- or else. And now his own party has shown its serious concern about how they will ever survive the upcoming elections. Boo Hoo. So they pretend to be so mortally offended by Nancy Pelosi that they just can't bring the country's catastrophic avalanche down that slippery slope leading to economic collapse to a halt.

Chalk up another disaster for George W Bush.......what is amazing is how many were blind to where we had been headed the last eight years.

The McCain antics in all this too, begs for an award defining surreal. It reveals seriously flawed judgement, as does the choice of Palin.

Meanwhile we all have our personal fallouts to contend with, in my case I have been sparring with the former A.G. Edwards about their sell-out to Wachovia all this past summer so the news this morning raises my level of concern. My IRA account and trust account have been at Edwards for a couple of decades. When Wachovia bought them out I was shocked, feeling it was a decision that showed no concern for clients and that due diligence was not applied. I felt some of the changes being initiated in order to sweep all cash not invested in equities, strong-arming tactics -- into banks that Wachovia had acquired over the years of their morphing into a monster corporation, you see I owned shares way back when .....before the greed became too great. I can't recall exactly when I unloaded them from my portfolio but I felt their acquisitiveness had exceeded reasonableness and after the merge with Edwards, if what they were imposing wasn't illegal, it should have been. I feel I am living in limbo......I have reviewed various choices for removing my account to another entity, which is like rolling dice in the present turmoil ----no Las Vegas type risks for me, not at my age.

Unmentionable SURGE

The comparative quiet in Iraq is much more attributable to the surge in the amount of dollars being handed out to the insurgency participants in order for them to stand down than to any brilliant change militarily. I believe there is another name for this.. Does anybody know how much this is costing per month?

That's the surge that I want to hear about........and what do you think might happen if the dollars stop flowing.

My guess is that we can't find anyone in government that knows the answer to that.

No one mentioned the change in educating the U.S. military belatedly on the cultural behaviors of the citizens that resulted in those horrible mass shootings that killed whole families at check points because of this cultural ignorance.

DeBait coverage and evaluation

The whole thing was dull.......not sure whether it was because of the questions content or Mr. Lehrer trying to encourage candidate engagement instead of subject expansion and detail. Since I am a resident of Arizona my opinion of McCain has been formed over my 21 years here. McCain is fully capable of being worse in the oval office than George W Bush. The office could just be moved to the Pentagon if voters again make a wrong choice or if the voting machinery gets "doctored".......and listening to the calls accepted by C-Span at random and aired, there is still much evidence that we do not have a well informed public, judging from those.....C-Span will run the whole thing again.....sometimes I watch again, but this time....I'll pass. Guess I'll sample what the talking heads are telling everyone what was said.

I am ready to vote, have been for months, Obama will make an exceptional president. America has a chance to heal with him, not so with McCain - with John the downhill slide will gain momentum.

Debait Season Begins

No that is not a misspelling in the title......it is more descriptive of what really happens in these affairs. But McLehrer will do a more even job than some others have.....IMO.

I have been on hiatus for four months, no television and little internet activity, since was reliant on using public wi-fi signals in libraries, lodgings, restaurants, just enough to keep tabs on my mail. So now that I am back to my permanent residence, I plan to comment regularly ...... I have miles of comments backed up in my head and that's where they will stay for the time being so that I can remark mostly on the final days of the presidential contest. The best place to watch tonite may be C-Span, they have developed a participative Debate Hub that as the four scheduled ones are held, should provide an easy way to personalize and overview of it all.

Right now Jim Lehrer is laying out the rules so the show is about to begin....in light of the events of the past few days.........perhaps this will not be as cut and dried as the stump speaking.
